The Nissan FS5W71C is the transmission of the Maxima, Versa, Pulsar, Pathfinder, as well as a number of trucks and SUVs like the Nissan Xterra, Nissan Cube, and 720 Series Pickup truck. Whereas the FS5R30 is the transmission for the 300ZX (1986 to 1996), the Frontier between 1999 to modern day and the Xterra between 2000 and 2004.
The FS5R30 is a manual 5 speed transmission with an aluminum case and built in bell housing. The FS5W71C is a five speed available in a rear wheel drive version and a four wheel drive version. The split case design is mostly made from aluminum, with the Syncro rings also being made from aluminum.
